Dimensions Raises Nearly £28,000 for Charities in 2018
Giving back has always been an important part of life at Dimensions. Thanks to the incredible efforts of colleagues across our Castle Donington, Castle Eden and Long Eaton locations, we raised an impressive £27,800 for charitable causes during 2018.
The fundraising total was shared between local, national and international organisations, supporting communities both close to home and around the world.
Supporting charities that make a difference
Following a company-wide vote, the 2018 fundraising supported:
- Cancer Research UK
- Macmillan Cancer Support
- Glory Bandhu Protim Samaj Kallayan Sangstha School in Dhaka, Bangladesh
- The Neonatal Units at:
- University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
- University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
- Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
By giving colleagues the opportunity to choose the charities they wished to support, the fundraising reflected causes that meant the most to our people.
A year of fundraising
Throughout the year, colleagues organised a wide variety of fundraising activities, including:
- Cake sales
- Quizzes
- Raffles
- Charity auctions
- Staff car washes
- Dress-down days
- Office fundraising events
Every event, large and small, contributed towards the final total and demonstrated the generosity and enthusiasm of teams across the business.
Taking on the Lyke Wake Walk
The biggest fundraising challenge of the year was undoubtedly the Lyke Wake Walk.
Thirty-six colleagues completed the demanding 40-mile route across the Yorkshire Moors, tackling one of the hottest days of the year to complete the challenge within 24 hours.
The event became one of the highlights of the year's fundraising programme, raising tens of thousands of pounds while showcasing the determination, teamwork and community spirit of everyone involved.
Supporting local healthcare
Part of the fundraising total was dedicated to supporting neonatal care across the East Midlands.
Donations were made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at hospitals in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, where the funding helped support projects including specialist equipment, family facilities and wellbeing initiatives for patients and their families.
By supporting local NHS services, colleagues were able to make a direct and lasting impact within the communities where many of them live and work.
Making a difference globally
The international fundraising supported Glory Bandhu Protim Samaj Kallayan Sangstha School in Dhaka, Bangladesh, helping improve opportunities for children through education and community support.
Supporting projects within our wider global supply chain has long been part of our commitment to creating positive social impact beyond the products we supply.
Looking ahead
Building on another successful year of fundraising, colleagues also voted for the charities to support during 2019:
- Doorways Derby as our local charity
- Derbyshire Mind as our national charity
- Save the Children as our international charity
These partnerships continued our commitment to supporting organisations that improve lives locally, nationally and internationally.
A culture of giving back
Fundraising is about much more than raising money. It brings colleagues together, strengthens communities and supports organisations making a real difference every day.
We're incredibly proud of everyone who contributed throughout 2018 and look forward to continuing our tradition of supporting worthwhile causes through volunteering, fundraising and community partnerships.
