Garments options are available for Managers, front-of-house Partners, and tailored choices for back stage Partners
From classic Oxford shirts and blouses to quilted jackets, gilets, grey chinos, and the iconic core apron, the uniform range combines comfort, style, and inclusivity. Accessories like hijabs and turbans, plus role-specific pieces for managers and drivers, ensure everyone feels supported and represented. Crafted with BCI cotton, and moving to 100% recycled polyester for all items by 2028, these garments are built to last, fully recyclable and at the end of their life, they’re returned for responsible recycling and turned into new products.
The bib apron isn’t just a uniform item, it’s a badge of expertise. Only team members who complete specialist training in their area earn the apron, from Meat & Fish to Cheese & Deli, Beer, Wine & Spirits, and beyond. It signals to customers that these colleagues have in-depth knowledge, honed skills, and the confidence to offer guidance, making it easy to find trusted advice on every aisle.
Journey Days let stores receive their uniforms on a chosen day each week, making planning simple and predictable. Delivered efficiently to store, this approach keeps logistics smooth, cost-effective, and reduces delivery emissions, good for the environment as well Waitrose's schedule. Knowing exactly when uniforms arrive means less hassle and more time for what matters most for the in-store Partners.
Designed for the rebrand
The uniform was designed in 2019 in collaboration with a specialist design agency, aligning perfectly with Waitrose’s rebrand. Every detail was considered to reflect the refreshed look and feel of the stores.
🌟
Wearer trials with Partners
A four-week wearer trial across two stores allowed consistent feedback to be gathered. Partners’ experiences were listened to, ensuring the final uniform worked in practice as well as in design.
🕺
Rollout and continued sustainability
The rollout in 2020 coincided with the rebrand, and Partner feedback continues to shape the range. By 2029, all cotton garments will use recycled polyester, and at the end of their life, items are returned for recovery or recycled into new products.

“We’ve been Waitrose's uniform partner since 1992, and over the years we’ve built a trusted relationship based on listening and delivering. From the early design stages aligned with their most recent rebrand, through wearer trials and rollout, we’ve listened to Partners every step of the way. It’s fantastic to see how the uniforms help them feel confident and comfortable in-store, and knowing the garments are sustainable and recycled into new products makes the work even more rewarding.”

"Wearing a uniform makes me feel like I'm part of a team and like I belong somewhere. As a person with a history of being excluded from groups and ignored and left behind by friends, being part of a new team at work has helped me gain back some confidence!"

When I put it on, I feel a sense of pride in being part of a team that values providing customers with the best. It's about the quality of service interactions with everyone being Proactive, passionate and personalised. The subtle green, and the partnership logo, are a visual representation of the dedication we have to our customers, and the quality of the products we provide.
This Waitrose jacket, with its distinctive green partnership emblem, is more than just a layer of warmth; it's a symbol of the quality and care we put into every customer interaction. When I zip it up, I feel a sense of connection to the team and a commitment to the high standards Waitrose is known for. It represents the early morning deliveries, the busy shop floor, and the dedication to providing exceptional service, even on the coldest winter days. It's a reminder that we're all partners, working together to deliver the best. #LoveYourUniform, especially my jacket, because it embodies warmth, partnership, and the unwavering dedication to our customers, rain or shine, warm or cold."
